I accidentally drove it about 40 miles on the freeway the other day only to realize after i got there that the bungees had been off the whole time- and there was no problem, so the bungees are really just more of a "lock" mechanism, preventing the casual person from opening it up to take a look under it. I was very happy with the overall fit, although i may play with moving the bungee cord mounts to tighten down the rear of the cover a hair. ALso one of the rear corner peices was not pre-tapped as the instructsions said, but i just put a screw in there by hand, no problem.Īs you said, streatching the cover was a bit of a paint, but that is to be expected to have a tight fit. I actually had to take the whole frame back apart after i realized that elcaminos only needed 2 bows instead of the three provided and the strut mounts were stuck between the rear two. The instructions definitely could have been better.
